William Paul Godwin

William “Bill” Godwin, a much-loved husband, father, and pawpaw, died on August 28th, 2023. He was born on July 24th, 1950, in Eustis, Florida to Robert and Ruth Godwin, the youngest of six boys.

After graduating high school, Bill was drafted into the United States Army where he served honorably in Korea. Upon release from the Army in 1971, he returned to Shreveport, Louisiana where he met his wife of 50 years, Trudy.

Bill’s career was spent mostly at General Motors, where he retired as chief powerhouse engineer. He loved watching Dallas Cowboys football, playing the slots, fishing, but mostly spending time enjoying his family.

He is survived by his wife, Trudy; daughter Joy Dibble and her husband Rob of Weatherford, TX; son Benjamin Godwin and his wife Chelsea of Alvarado, TX; son Andrew Godwin and his wife Bonny of Burleson, TX. Brother Richard Godwin of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sister-in-law Sherry Lanigan of Fort Worth, TX and eight grandchildren-Hayden, Mikayla, Alison, Ian, Quinn, Greyson, Mila and Charlie.
