Vink Bon Quan

Vink Bon Quan, 77, was called home peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on October 16, 1948, in Hanoi, Vietnam, to Kinh Minh Quan and Huong Ly, Vink lived a life defined by honor, faith, courage, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was the fifth of eleven children and learned early the values of responsibility, hard work, and caring for others.

Gifted with a sharp mind and a love of learning. He attended the University of Education and Technology in Saigon, majoring in English. Vink taught English as a young man before serving his country as a First Lieutenant in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. As a translator, his knowledge of English became a vital tool during a time of great uncertainty. Through his intelligence, courage, and determination, he helped create opportunities that ultimately changed the course of his family's future.

Following the war, Vink immigrated to the United States in pursuit of opportunity and a better life for those he loved. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and went on to enjoy a successful career with General Motors until his retirement.

While Vink was proud of his education and career accomplishments, his greatest source of pride was always his family. He worked tirelessly to provide not only for his immediate family but also for his extended family whenever they needed support. His generosity knew no bounds, and he believed family should care for one another through every season of life.

Vink was the beloved husband of Tuyet Nguyen and a devoted father to Nancy Nelson, Victoria Quan, Elizabeth Quan, Josh Johnson, and stepson Devon Nguyen. He was also a cherished grandfather to thirteen grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy. When asked about his greatest accomplishment, Vink did not point to his military service, education, or career. He simply said, "My children."

A faithful member of the Vietnamese Baptist Church of Arlington, Vink accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 2014. His faith continued to grow throughout the years and became an important foundation of his life. He found joy in studying, practicing Taekwondo, fishing, learning languages, traveling, and spending time with family. He had a deep respect for people and cultures and was intentional about making others feel valued. Wherever he traveled, he made it a point to learn how to say "hello" and "thank you" in a person's native language, believing that small gestures could build meaningful connections.

Those who knew Vink will remember him not only as a man of integrity and honor, but also as someone who brought joy and laughter into everyday moments. He loved entertaining his children, creating adventures, sharing stories, teaching life lessons, and finding ways to make those around him smile. His greatest happiness came from seeing his family happy.

Vink's life was a testament to perseverance, kindness, humility, and selfless love. From war-torn Vietnam to a successful life in America, his journey reflected the courage, determination, and faith that defined him. Through his sacrifices, he created opportunities that continue to bless generations of his family.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tin Bon Quan, Kien Bon Quan, and Quyen Bon Quan.

He is survived by his siblings Nhan Le Quan, Fong Bon Quan, San Le Quan, Hoa Bon Quan, Phan Le Quan, Hao Bon Quan, and Van Le Quan, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though his family grieves his loss, they find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind and the legacy he built. His greatest gift was never what he provided, but the love, character, and example he gave every day of his life. His honor, generosity, faith, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life for Vink will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory, share in fellowship, and celebrate a life well lived.
