Vera Elizabeth Thomas Hall passed peacefully to her heavenly home on April 21, 2025 at the age of 92. Vera was able to visit with each of her 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 6 grandchildren, and many of her extended family and friends before she peacefully passed.
Vera was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother “Mimi”, and Great-Mimi-to-Be. She followed Jesus faithfully, and considered these roles and prayer to be her most important. She was a pioneer in the field of Computer Programming. She had an unassuming, yet profound intellect. With quiet confidence and a genuine love for all people, she led the way for other women as she rose through the corporate world through several decades. She possessed a quick wit and a contagious laugh. Her compassion extended to everyone, and her loving, wise, and sweet presence will be greatly missed.
Her husband Henry always claimed…”Everyone loves Vera Hall”. It was no secret to those that knew her that she loved “everyone” back. Vera was born to Frank and Lois Thomas on November 1, 1932. She fondly remembered growing up with her siblings; Joe, Margie, Mary Jane, and Dorothy. She treasured wonderful times with her beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texarkana, AR. She graduated Salutatorian from a private Catholic school, and took one year of college, before being recruited as a computer programmer in the early 1950’s. She met and married Henry W. Hall in October, 1962, and moved to Texas. Together, they had two children; Mark and Greg.
Henry and Vera were married for 57 years…along the way their family expanded to include Daughters-in-law Stephanie Hall and Elizabeth Hall, and Grandchildren Katherine Hall Causey, Hannah Hall, Samuel Hall, and Micah Hall. Vera loved watching Katherine marry new Grandson Tate Causey, in September 2022, and met her Great Grandson-to-Be due in June, via sonogram videos before passing. She also warmly welcomed new Granddaughter Kaitlyn Hall in marriage to Samuel Hall in February, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lois, her brother Joseph Thomas, sister Margaret “Margie” Mastrobuono, brothers-in-law Richard “Dick” Mastrobuono, and Mike Newton, and her beloved husband, Henry.
She is survived by her sisters Mary Jane Hamilton and Dorothy Newton, six Grandchildren, one Great-Grandson, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Her celebration of life will be Friday, June 6, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E Marvin Ave, Waxahachie, TX 75165, at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Vera’s favorite charity; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/.
