Emblem

Edward Charles Flowers, 75, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at Tuskegee Airman State Veterans Home in Fort Worth, Texas.

Edward, affectionately known as “Ed,” was born on January 22, 1951, in Bryan, Texas, to Dortha Williams and L.C. Tolliver. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and servant of God, Ed lived a life marked by faith, discipline, service, and love for his family and community.

Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force for 19 years and 10 months, retiring in 1991 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous honors and recognitions, including the Commander’s Star of the Month Award from the 3544 Recruiting Squadron, Top Support NCO for the 1st and 2nd Quarters of 1989 and 1990, and the Meritorious Service Award from the 3755 Student Squadron at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Ed continued his dedication to public service by working for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for 15 years. He also pursued higher education at Tarrant County College while working on the security team at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and serving as a substitute teacher for Arlington Independent School District.

Ed enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life. He loved cooking, assembling and building things, weightlifting and exercising, and gardening. Whether working with his hands or tending to his plants, Ed approached everything with care, patience, and excellence.

Above all, Ed was a kingdom man who faithfully taught his sons and grandchildren to know Jesus Christ and make Him known to others. His faith was the foundation of his life. He was a dedicated member of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church for over 20 years, where he faithfully served in several ministries, including Ambassadors for Christ. He also enjoyed serving as a small group leader, sharing God’s Word and encouraging others in their faith journey. Additionally, he was actively involved in the Turnaround Agenda ministry.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rose Mary Flowers; his sons, Derrick (Shannon) Flowers and Jeromy (Kristina) Flowers; his beloved grandchildren, Ayana, Xavier, Devin, Dayton, Tyson, Crew, Leyla, and Keegan; his siblings, Willie R. Flowers, Verneda S. Harris, and Hester K. Flowers; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Maurice K. Flowers, Isaiah W. Flowers, Alfonson Flowers, Elizabeth Franklin, Johnny W. Flowers, and Darrell Tolliver.

A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas. All guests are invited to dress casually and wear something blue as a tribute to Ed. The family will receive friends during a reception immediately following the celebration of life at the funeral home. Ed will be laid to rest at 3pm on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

Edward Charles Flowers will be remembered for his unwavering faith, servant’s heart, strong work ethic, wisdom, and deep love for his family. His legacy of integrity, devotion, and faith in Christ will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
