Treva Jere Lyday 83, of Arlington, Texas
Treva Jere (Brown) Lyday departed this life on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.
She is survived by her son John Russell Lyday, daughter Robin Jeree Lyday and son-in-law Michael Anderson, brother Carl Wayland Brown and sister-in-law Pam Conely Brown, and sister-in-law Kay (Lyday) Branham. She has ten nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence Russell Lyday, her parents Glenn Wayland Brown and Bonnie Maxine (Thurman) Brown, and her sister-in-law Ann (Lyday) Georgoulis.
Treva was born in Seminole, Texas on August 2, 1941. She had fond memories of her childhood spent with her beloved aunts, uncles and cousins, especially Larry, Bill, Richard, Becky, Nancy and Ann. She graduated as valedictorian from Seminole High School in 1959, attended Baylor University and completed her degree in English at North Texas State University (now UNT). Notably, as a young adult she was one of the earlier recipients of open heart surgery.
Treva’s work career included teaching in the Arlington, TX school district, and she retired from the University of Texas (UTA) Library. She was a member of the Junior Women’s League of Arlington, and longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington. Treva left a legacy of her creativity and love of gardening, art, music and museums. Mostly she was a faithful wife, mother, daughter and friend. She enjoyed meeting people and listening to their stories. Treva will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow, at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, TX 76013.
Memorials are encouraged in her name to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, or a charity of your choice.
