Obituary

Torin Dequan Willis passed away peacefully at his home in Arlington, Texas, on December 22, 2025, at the age of 47.

Torin was born on May 26, 1978, in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1983, his family moved to Abilene, Texas, and later settled in Arlington in 1992—a place that would remain home for the rest of his life.

In the summer of 2000, Torin met the love of his life, Brandy. After several years of dating—and true to Torin’s quiet determination—they married on April 23, 2005. This year, they proudly celebrated 20 years of marriage. Torin was a true romantic, known for spoiling Brandy with hand-delivered flowers every anniversary and Valentine’s Day, gestures that perfectly reflected his deep love and devotion.

Torin was the core of his family and the glue that held lifelong friendships together. A strong, silent presence, he faced life’s challenges with calm resilience, grace, and unwavering loyalty. Though reserved at first, those who truly knew him experienced his warmth, charisma, and steady love. Once you were his friend, you were family—one of “his people” for life.

As a father, Torin gave everything to his sons. He spent countless hours transporting them, coaching practices, and traveling long distances for tournaments, always showing up with pride and purpose. His legacy of respect for all people, strong manners, hard work, and deep love for family and friends will live on through his boys.

Torin was a standout basketball player at Lamar High School, and his lifelong love of sports naturally carried on to his sons. He remained passionate about sports throughout his life, especially as a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed playing pool, attending sporting events, and spending time at No Frills Sports Bar and Grill with his father-in-law and best friend.

Torin began his career alongside his close friend and partner, Kenny Biscoff, at Ichiban Autos in Fort Worth. He later transitioned into the appraisal business, owning a franchise under SCA Appraisals known as Torin Willis Appraisers, where his integrity and work ethic were deeply respected.

Above all, Torin was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend. His steady presence, kind heart, and quiet strength made him a light to all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Torin is survived by his beloved wife, Brandy Willis; his sons, Torin Dequan Willis Jr. and Malcolm Jakobi Willis; his sisters, Lashundi (Michael) Flournoy and Jasmine Gay; his brother, Robert (Tomika) Willis; his mother-in-law, Sheila Herd; and his “second bonus mom,” Cynthia Valez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Willis Jr.; his mother, Zana Lorraine Timms; and his father-in-law, lovingly known as “Dad,” Greg Herd.

Torin’s love, loyalty, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
