It is with heavy hearts but immense gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Tomas James Alcantar, lovingly known as Tommy, on October 15, 2023. Tommy’s journey on this earth came to an end at the age of 42.
Born on February 2, 1981, in Arlington, Texas, Tommy was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew him. He was a man of many passions, with a particular love for football and music. Tommy constantly inspired and motivated others as a dedicated coach and mentor, always rooting for his family, friends, and cherished teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Hurricanes.
Tommy’s unwavering loyalty, integrity, and unwavering commitment to his family were the cornerstones of his remarkable existence. He was a devoted son, a loving husband to Julia, and the best dad ever to his children. His nurturing spirit extended to his extended family as well, as he embraced the roles of brother, uncle, cousin and friend with open arms.
Outside of his familial bonds, Tommy was a charismatic leader and mentor who touched the lives of many. His impact was far-reaching, as he influenced the lives of others through his intentional actions and incredible work ethic. Despite any challenges that came his way, Tommy remained strong, resilient, and always fought fiercely for what he believed in; an embodiment of true strength.
Tommy was preceded in death by Father, Tomas S. Alcantar; Maternal Grandfather James Folmar; paternal grandparents Clara and Jose Alcantar.
Tommy’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his loving wife Julia Alcantar; children Mercedes Alcantar, Jolie Gallegos, Paul Gallegos, Mila Alcantar; mother Mary Brantley and stepfather Dale Brantley; grandmother Betty Folmar; brother Ryan Alcantar and his wife Sara; nieces Kinsler and Keller Alcantar.
