Timothy Gette

April 11, 1946 — June 26, 2025

Emblem

On June 26, 2025, Timothy Joseph Eugene Gette passed away at the age of 79. Tim was a chivalrous man, who loved his family and grandchildren, collecting various treasures, and researching his family genealogy.

Tim was born April 11, 1946, to Joseph and Phyllis Gette. He was the apple of his Grandmother Nanny’s eye and spent many formative years with her delighting in each other’s company. He was also a military brat, where he likely first developed his love and adoration for world travel.

He was a proud member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, where he was a founding member of the Angelo State University chapter and the first Chapter President. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he joined the U.S. Air Force and concurrently received his master’s degree at the University of Arkansas. After completing his education, he enjoyed traveling to many exotic locales and working for Bell Helicopter. Tim transitioned his career in the non-profit world as the Executive Director for several natural history museums, but his favorite was always The Virginia Museum of Natural History.

Tim had many eclectic interests, including trains, Hummels, Christmas decorations, and silver bells to visually signify the years he was married to his wife, Kristi. Together, they spent forty-seven years and forty-seven Christmas seasons as husband and wife.

Tim was proud of both of his children – Brent and Rebecca – and all four of his grandchildren – Henry, Alexander, Caroline, and Madeline. He was the master of the Gette Genealogy and had it worked back several hundred years.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kristi, son and daughter-in-law Brent and Angela Gette, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca and James Lewis, his four grandchildren – Henry Nuckols, Alexander Lewis, Caroline Gette, and Madeline Lewis, his brother Andy, sister Marlene, and other extended family who loved him.

The family would like to thank UT Southwestern and especially his physicians, Dr. Desai and Dr. Sarma, as well as his caregivers – Teeka, LaShaa, Brittany, and Ruth who helped him to stay at home where he was happiest.

The family will host a celebration of life in honor of Tim on July 21, 2025, at noon at Levitt Center, 102 W. Abram St, Arlington, TX 76010. Levitt Center is located at the corner of South and Pecan Street. Parking is available on 200 W. South St. The center is located on the second floor of the triangular building.

Tim will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in his honor to The Virginia Museum of Natural History or to your favorite museum.
