Thomas Howard Hughes

Thomas (Tom) Howard Hughes, age 94, passed away peacefully March 17, 2025, of natural causes. He was born on March 8, 1931, to Oscar M. and Suzy H. Hughes in Channing, Texas. He married his best friend, Margaret Jeane House, on Sept. 2, 1956.

After graduation from Tyler High School in 1949, he joined the Air Force where he served in South Korea following the war. Tom graduated from The University of North Texas in 1957. For most of his career, he worked for State Farm Insurance, retiring in 1993.

Tom was president of his Toastmasters chapter and volunteered with Hearts and Hands and Arlington Memorial Hospital. He loved sports, traveling and his family.

Tom is survived by his children Carin Hughes and Tracy Bowers, sons-in-law Jon Kieffer and Will Bowers and grandchildren Carlye and Thatcher Bowers. He was predeceased by his wife Jeane Hughes, daughter Cindy Hughes and brother James Hughes.

A private memorial service will be held at DFW National Cemetery.
