Stephen Glenn Loyd

It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Stephen Glenn Loyd, a beloved father, mentor, educator, and friend. He passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his son and daughter, after a courageous battle with cancer of the stomach and esophagus.

Born on October 27, 1955, Stephen lived a life marked by kindness, creativity, and quiet leadership. After retiring from a long and dedicated career at General Motors, he completed his Master’s Degree and went on to become a teacher and continue his entrepreneurial spirit, helping friends and family with his craftsmanship.

Stephen was gifted with his hands and heart alike. He created music and art that inspired, and he built the dream home he had long envisioned with care and meaning. But what he created was never just physical — it was deeply human. In his retired years, he taught special education at Rankin Elementary and took great pride in mentoring young people, including helping local teens earn their GEDs and pursue vocational training through the Job Corps. He helped build lives with the same intention and purpose that defined his own.

Even in his final days, Stephen’s eternal optimism never wavered. He remained a steady voice of reason and hope, lifting up the people around him with the same spirit he carried throughout his life, including during his time in the hospital.

Stephen is survived by his brothers Kenny & Aidrian and his son and daughter, Cody and Jordan Loyd, who will carry his legacy forward with love and gratitude.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks you to honor Stephen’s legacy by showing love and optimism when you think of him.
