Stephen Vance Kittelson

Stephen “Steve” Vance Kittelson, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 28, 2026, at the Avalon Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Center in Arlington, Texas.

Born on August 26, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steve was the son of Jules Vance Kittelson and Marjorie Smith Kittelson. He grew up in Arlington, Texas, alongside his brother, David Burton Kittelson, forming a close-knit family foundation that shaped his life.

On July 30, 1979, Steve married Marilyn Jones in Dallas, Texas. Their marriage was a devoted partnership filled with creativity, humor, and shared purpose. Though they had no children of their own, Steve and Marilyn lovingly embraced their nieces, nephews, and godchildren, offering guidance, encouragement, and a steady presence in their lives.

Steve’s passion for the arts was a defining part of who he was. He and Marilyn were active members of the Dallas Rotunda Theatre and the Wortley-Peabody Theatre, contributing as actors, directors, and mentors. Their work enriched the Dallas theatre community and inspired countless performers over the years.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and care technicians at Avalon Memory Care in Arlington. Their compassion, patience, and attentive care brought comfort and dignity to Steve in his final years, and their kindness will always be remembered.

Steve is survived by his brother, David Kittelson, and his wife Barbara of Arizona; his brother‑in‑law, Larry Jones, and his wife Judy of Mansfield, Texas; along with many nieces, nephews, and godchildren who cherished his humor, generosity, and unwavering support.

Steve will be remembered for his gentle spirit, creative energy, and the love he shared freely with family, friends, and the artistic community he helped nurture. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Steve’s wishes there will be no service and his ashes will be interned at the First United Methodist Church Columbarium in Dallas, Texas.
