Shirley Jean Leibrand

Shirley Jean Leibrand, age 88, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering friendship. She was born on December 21, 1937, in Akron, Ohio, to Walter Thomas Wilson and Audra Geraldine Wilson.

Shirley graduated from Vincent High School in Vincent, Ohio, with the Class of 1955. Shortly after graduation, she began a career in the medical field, working for Dr. Don Carmen in Beverly, Ohio. Following his passing, she continued serving the community alongside Dr. Steven Downer until her retirement at the remarkable age of 80. Her dedication, compassion, and strong work ethic earned the respect of both her colleagues and countless patients throughout the years.

A devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Shirley belonged to Mt. Moriah Chapter No. 506 in Beverly, Ohio, for more than 50 years. She faithfully served her chapter in numerous leadership roles and was honored to serve as the Grand Representative to Vermont from Ohio. Her influence reached far beyond titles and offices. She mentored many members as they progressed through their journey in the Order, offering encouragement, wisdom, and friendship. One fellow member perhaps said it best: "No one else could have ever lifted my spirits like your mom did." Shirley's warmth, generosity, and caring heart left an enduring impression on her Eastern Star brothers and sisters, many of whom considered her family.

Outside of her professional and organizational commitments, Shirley found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved reading, sewing, tending to her garden, and preparing meals for those she loved. She was happiest when caring for others, sharing laughter, and creating a welcoming home filled with love.

Shirley was the loving mother of Debbie Jowers and her husband, Billy Don; Pam Klaes and her husband, Kenny; and Michael Leibrand. She was a proud grandmother of Kelsey Klaes and the late Lewis Bartlett III. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren, Jake Bartlett and Kaelyn Bartlett. She was also a loving step-great-grandmother to Lincoln, Victoria Tara and Owen and held a special place in the lives of her step-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Christopher, Rhonda, Dawn, and Alisha, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she enriched through her kindness and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Thomas Wilson and Audra Geraldine Wilson, and by her brother, Robert Wilson.

Shirley will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, gentle encouragement, unwavering faithfulness to her friends and family, and the countless lives she touched through simple acts of kindness. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

In accordance with Shirley's wishes, no formal service will be held. Her family will celebrate her life during a private Celebration of Life in the fall of 2026. In keeping with her wishes, the family respectfully requests that no flowers or gifts of any kind be sent.
