Sheila Terese Burcham, 70, loving mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2025, at her home in Pantego, Texas, surrounded by her family. Sheila was born on July 9, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama, to Curtis Lamar and Ruby Earnesteen (Dyer) Burcham. Sheila lived a life marked by faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Sheila dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mother, nurturing her daughters with boundless love and care. Later in life, Sheila pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, earning her degree in 1999. She was a registered nurse for more than 25 years. She started in an OB/GYN practice where she was able to play a crucial role in bringing her first grandchild into the world. Then moving on to become a dialysis nurse for over 10 years before finding her calling as a Hospice Nurse. As a Hospice Nurse, Sheila was a source of strength, often taking the time too listen to her patients’ stories, share moments of laughter and providing comfort to patients and their families during the difficult process of end-of-life care. Her work reflected her compassionate spirit – generous, nurturing, and selfless.
Her steadfast relationship with Christ was the cornerstone of her life. Through every move and season of change, her faith remained strong and guiding.
Sheila is survived by her life partner, Javier De Los Santos; daughters, Shannon Story (Patrick) of Bedford and Nikki Nichols (Jim) of Crowley; sister, Donna Bryson (Jimmy) of Eads, TN; nine grandchildren, Makaela, Alex, Zach, Cori, Brendan, Emma, Liam, Rielynn and Ruby; and her beloved yorkie, Beau. She was preceded in death by her parents; son in law, LeRoy Lott Jr. and beloved yorkie, Buddy.
A true Alabama Crimson Tide football fan through and through, Sheila cheered loudly and proudly, never missing a chance to support her team. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping for treasures at estate sales, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Life for Sheila will take place on April 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance in her honor.
Her legacy of faith, compassion, and devotion will live on in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched.
