Seth Caden Rains

October 4, 2001 — July 27, 2025

Arlington

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Seth Caden Rains, who left us far too soon on July 27, 2025, at the tender age of 23. Born on October 4, 2001, in Fort Worth, Texas, Seth brought warmth and joy to everyone he met. The son of Clint and Cynthia Rains, he was not only a fantastic son but also an amazing older brother, a cherished uncle, a beloved nephew and cousin, and a dear friend to many.

Seth graduated from Mansfield Summit High School in 2020, where he played varsity baseball and built lifelong friendships on and off the field. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University in 2024. He dreamed of one day starting a program to teach kids financial literacy. While at Texas Tech, he was an active member of Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity, forming lasting friendships and deepening his faith.

Seth was an incredibly hard worker who often had to be told to leave the office. From June 2024 to 2025, he worked at Strittmatter Wealth Management Group, where his dedication and drive quickly made an impression. In June 2025, Seth moved to Austin to begin a promising new role as a financial planner at Creative Planning. A devoted man of God, he was passionately involved in his community and lived his life grounded in faith, service, and love for others.

Seth was exceptionally loyal, disciplined, and a go-getter. He had a gift for holding on to the people who mattered. Some of his closest friendships began in the diaper days and only deepened as the years went by. He was in the gym nearly every day and always looking for ways to grow, push himself, and move forward in life. He was dedicated to staying active and healthy. He was passionate about strength training and running, and never missed an opportunity to support others in their own fitness journeys, whether working out alongside them or cheering from a distance. He believed in showing up fully with joy and gratitude in everything he did. He rooted faithfully for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Texas Rangers, and the Cowboys… even when they disappointed him season after season.

Seth had a deep love for music and found joy in sharing it with his friends. Concerts were sacred spaces for him as places of connection, energy, and light. He had just attended a concert the night he passed away, doing what he loved most: living fully, surrounded by music and friends.

His favorite verse, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21), speaks to the mission-driven life he led and the stories of impact he leaves behind.

Seth is survived by his loving parents, Clint Allen Rains and Cynthia Lopez Rains; his sister, Ava Claire Rains; and his niece, Athena Aurora Rains-Kietly, all of Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by his grandparents: Raymond and Mary Lopez of Arlington, Texas; Rita Lopez of Kennedale, Texas; and Linda Rains of Conroe, Texas.

Seth leaves behind many beloved aunts and uncles: Raymond Lopez Jr of Kennedale, Texas; Deanna and Chris Elizondo of Burleson, Texas; Michael and Denise Lopez of Arlington, Texas; Ruben and Gloria Lopez of Fort Worth, Texas; Rachel and Roy Doporto of Arlington, Texas; Rozann and Jon Buchanan of Tomball, Texas; Mark Rains of Fort Worth, Texas; Donny and Rosemary Rains of Austin, Texas; and Keith and Terri Kyser of Rowlett, Texas.

He was cherished by a wide and loving family of cousins, including: Nick Lopez of Weatherford, Texas; Ricky Lopez of Kennedale, Texas; Amanda Lopez of Arlington, Texas; Vincent Lopez of Azle, Texas; Salena and Aaron Moncivais of Ocean City, California; Daniel Lopez of Haltom City, Texas; Vanessa and Alex Rodriguez of Jacksboro, Texas; Chris and Kathryn Elizondo of Amarillo, Texas; Natalie Elizondo of Lubbock, Texas; Michael and Jessie Lopez of Phoenix, Arizona; Anthony Lopez of Arlington, Texas; Erik Lopez of Fort Worth, Texas; Josiah and Christina Vaughn of Fort Worth, Texas; Josh Vaughn and fiancée Stephanie Humphris of Baumholder, Germany; Nic Janek and fiancée Rebecca Randall of Carrollton, Texas; Brandon Rains of Haslet, Texas; Gavin Rains of Haslet, Texas; Danielle and Kyle Walker of Round Rock, Texas; Dr. Nicole Taylor Rains of Cedar Park, Texas; and Conner and Samantha Kyser of Rowlett, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother Manuela Gonzales, affectionately known as “Beulita” and his grandfather Lanny Rains.

Those close to Seth say he was the kind of person who always put others first. He was deeply respected for his kindness, generosity, and the way he carried himself. He was a class act in every sense. He would give the shirt off his back to a stranger without hesitation. His friends looked up to him, not just for how dependable he was, but for the way he treated people. Whether you needed a ride, advice, or someone to show up for you, Seth never had to be asked twice. His selflessness shaped the way he lived and the way he’ll be remembered.

Seth lived with infectious joy that spilled into every room and every heart. Though his time with us was too short, we rejoice in the promise that he is fully alive in the presence of God and that we will see him again.
