Sandra "Sandi" Asebedo, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 30, 2026, in Dallas, Texas.
Born on December 20, 1964, in Elgin, Illinois, Sandi lived a life defined by her strong faith in God and profound love for her family. A devoted member of the Catholic Church, she generously shared her time and talents in service to her parish throughout her life.
Sandi graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1983. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and later received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas. She worked at UTA for more than 27 years, most recently as a Senior Enterprise Resource Planning Programmer in the Office of Information Technology. Prior to that, she was a programmer for the Grand Prairie Police Department for more than six years.
While Sandi was deeply committed to her profession, her greatest joy came from being with her family. She especially cherished time spent with her nieces, nephews, and great-nephew, celebrating milestones, creating memories, and offering unwavering love.
Sandi held a special place in her heart for her goddaughter and niece, Leanza Asebedo. She embraced the role of godmother with genuine devotion, encouragement, and support.
Sandi's caring nature was evident in countless ways, both large and small. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, family eagerly anticipated the delicious pies and sweet treats she lovingly baked. Her holiday desserts became a cherished tradition that brought loved ones together and created moments her family will forever hold dear.
As a young woman, Sandi was active in Girl Scouts throughout her school years, an early reflection of the spirit of service, commitment, and community that remained with her throughout her life.
Sandi was preceded in death by her father, Reynaldo M. Asebedo.
She is survived by her mother, Elva Asebedo; her brother, Rodney Asebedo and wife Linda; her sisters, Selma Permenter and husband Mark, and Susann Asebedo; nieces Leanza Asebedo, Elena Anderson and husband Andrew, and Sara Wallace and husband Ryan; nephews Anthony Asebedo, Zachary Asebedo and wife KC, and Omar Martinez; and her great-nephew, Xavier Martinez.
Although Sandi's presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the example she set through her steadfast faith, quiet strength, generous heart, and enduring love for those closest to her.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Arlington. Interment will follow at noon at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Parish through its online giving page, St. Joseph Catholic Parish Memorial Donations. Contributions may also be made to the UT Southwestern Cancer Center in support of colon cancer research and in gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Sandi throughout her courageous battle with cancer.
