On November 10, 2025, Ruth met her Lord and Savior face to face. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jim Edwards of Arlington, son David Edwards of Fort Worth, daughter Jana Ruth Tatum (Brian) of Burleson, sister Margaret Johnson of Arlington, and brother Paul Johnson (Barbara) of Arizona. She has four grandchildren whom she loved and prayed for daily: Ben Edwards, Asher Edwards, Missy Tatum and Rebecca Ruth Tatum. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends that became family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Helen Johnson and her brother James Johnson.
Ruth was devoted to serving her Lord, loving her family and encouraging everyone she met. Ruth was raised in Arlington, Texas, met her husband at Howard Payne University and married in 1967. She was an elementary school librarian and taught in Texas, Washington state, Louisiana, and North Carolina. In each location, she served as accompanist as Jim served as music minister. Ruth also devoted over 20 years to selling Mary Kay. She loved meeting new people, encouraging them and helping women show their beauty, inside and out.
We will celebrate her life on November 15, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Grace Street Fellowship (1516 W Pioneer Pkwy Arlington, Texas 76013). In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to Mission Arlington.
