ARLINGTON -- Robert James Armstrong III passed away suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at his home.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Alban's Anglican Church, 911 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: 12:45 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.

He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Austin to Robert and Gloria Armstrong. The son of an Air Force pilot and officer, he grew up around the world. He graduated from Irving High School in 1965, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1966-1970, including service in Vietnam from 1969-1970. As a longtime resident of Arlington, Robert served nine years in Big Brothers, Big Sisters and was very active at St. Alban's Anglican Church.
Robert was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He had a very selfless spirit and was always willing to help those in need.
Survivors: Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patti Armstrong; daughter, Cynda Mullikin; grandchildren, Smythe and Andrew Mullikin; father, Robert Armstrong; brothers, Paul Armstrong and Donnie Armstrong; sisters, Linda Johnson and Jeane Harms; nephews, Nathan Johnson, Brian Armstrong, Brandon Johnson, Ryan Harms and Barrett Harms; and nieces, Jill Fast, Krista Aburrow and Emily Gardner.
