Riley Allen Jordan, 14, passed away on February 20, 2026, in Arlington, Texas. He was born on February 27, 2011, and in his too-short fourteen years, Riley left an imprint that feels far bigger than time can measure.
Riley was the kind of person who made life feel lighter just by being in the room. With his big blue eyes and constant smile, he carried an easy, laid-back spirit-funny, gentle, and steady. He had a quiet confidence and something rare for his age: Riley wasn't afraid to be vulnerable. His mom, Kelli, loved that he would always say "love you" before she left the room-friends around or not. He wasn't embarrassed to show people what they meant to him. Riley loved deeply, and he lived that love out loud.
Family and friends were everything to him. Kelli's home was the gathering place-the one always full of people, laughter, food, and friends who became family. Riley cherished the people closest to him, especially his girlfriend, Avery, who was truly his best friend.
Riley's joy showed up in the little things and the traditions that became sacred. He loved the Texas Rangers, and opening day was a Jordan family tradition he looked forward to year after year. Easter at his grandparents' house was another favorite-egg hunts (especially when there was money tucked inside) and deviled eggs that Riley was determined to enjoy as many as possible. Christmas held its own magic: baking cookies at Gaga and Papa's house, building gingerbread houses, and the yearly Christmas photo beneath the tree with his Aunt Kimmy-a tradition that meant so much.
Riley's personality came through in his style, too. He liked his hair to be perfect, and his go-to comfort look was classic Riley: slides, Crocs, sweatpants-Nike socks always welcome.
He had passions that filled his days. Riley loved LEGO sets-especially building cars-and he could get lost in creating something piece by piece. He loved dogs with his whole heart and never forgot his beloved basset hound, Sophie, who passed away two years ago and remained a treasured part of Riley's story. He also loved working out, music, and having a playlist for every possible moment-because Riley believed every occasion deserved the right soundtrack. Kelli and Justin were especially proud that his first live concert was Metallica, and lately, Riley had started exploring country music, too.
Riley's heart showed up in how he cared for others. He helped his mom decorate her classroom before every school year, giving his time and effort without needing recognition. He loved being around his "big cousins," feeling cool tucked right in the middle of them, always included, always smiling. And he had a special bond with his Uncle Jesse-one of their favorite things was watching Stranger Things together, sharing those simple, unforgettable moments.
One of Riley's most memorable adventures was traveling to Scotland with his grandparents-an experience that spoke to how loved and supported he was, and how much he enjoyed being with family.
Riley is preceded in death by his beloved basset hound, Sophie. He was also preceded in death by many great-grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, Kelli Jordan and Justin Coin, and Aaron and Samantha Jordan; step-sister, Farrah Felts; grandparents, Tom and Dianne Tabers, and Walter and Darleen Jordan; aunts and uncles, Kimberly and Jesse Martindale (and their son, Dalton), Casey and Erica Jordan (and their son, Max), and Robert and Jaime Jordan (and their sons, Kaleb and Walker)-along with many extended family members and dear friends who will carry Riley's memory forward.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Lake Church in Arlington. This will be a time to share stories, celebrate Riley's life, and support the Jordan family. Riley's favorite color was blue, and in honor of him, those attending are encouraged to wear blue-Crocs and Nike socks are absolutely welcome.
Riley's life was made up of love-given freely, shown openly, and remembered forever.
