Paula Kay (Curlin) Boehme, 78, passed away peacefully in Arlington, Texas. She was born on September 2, 1947, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Pauline (King) Curlin and Ben Marion Curlin.
After the passing of her father in 1963, Paula moved with her family to Jackson, Tennessee, where she spent her formative years. She went on to pursue higher education with dedication and passion, earning a master’s degree in education from Memphis State University. Though she completed all her doctoral coursework, she ultimately did not finish her dissertation.
In the early 1980s, Paula relocated to Arlington, Texas, where she built a life rooted in community, service, and education. It was there that she met the love of her life, Billy Ray Boehme, through a singles group at First Baptist Arlington. The couple married on June 9, 1984, and shared many happy years together.
Paula devoted the majority of her professional life to teaching in Grand Prairie ISD, where she made a lasting impact on countless students. Even after retiring, her passion for education continued as she taught part-time for Arlington ISD.
Beyond her career, Paula was deeply engaged in her community. She served as an election judge during election years and was actively involved in local political campaigns. She was also a dedicated member of the Greater Arlington/Mansfield Democratic Women, contributing her time and voice to causes she believed in.
Paula found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved gardening, spending time outdoors, and nurturing the beauty around her. She will be remembered for her commitment to education, her civic involvement, and her warm, steady presence in the lives of those who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Ray Boehme; brother, Ben Curlin; sister, Patricia Gentry; niece and her family, Rachel Pavolich and husband, Jason and their son Zane.
Paula’s life was one of quiet dedication, lifelong learning, and meaningful service. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
