Patricia Gayle Spikes

Patricia was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on June 8th, 1941. She was the youngest of four children born to Charlie and Gladys Huff. With her sister and two brothers, Charlsie, Bobby and Mikey, they made their home in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was raised in an Assembly of God church and was a proud Gopher of Grand Prairie High School. She met and married John C Spikes, a native of Texas. They soon added another to their family, a son, Rondoll. Just after my arrival, Dad was to be diagnosed with Diabetic Neuropathy and together they would struggle with its debilitating effects for the next 42 years. When his debilitated health kept him from working, she answered the call and chose her working career in Secretarial and Office Administration.

She gave herself to caring for others, as well as for her husband. She expressed her loving care to her mother diagnosed with Cancer, her father with Alzheimer’s, her sister Charlsie with Alzheimer’s, and her brother Bobby with Bone Cancer. Her love for family reached out to her sibling’s children and their children too.

Pat was generous, caring and witty, yet stubborn and strong willed too. She truly endeavored to share the Grace of God with others, while pursuing a life that honored her Savior. She loved being with her family, grandkids and friends. She enjoyed pets, cooking and sewing, Stage Plays, Musicals, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers.

She loved making her mother’s Turkey dressing for us at Thanksgiving. We would Christmas carol through the neighborhood at Christmas time. Together we made Cookie dough for the fun of using cookie cutters and made Deserts from scratch. She made an incredible Fruit Salad for us during the Holidays, a labor of love, we could never get enough of it. She prayed with me, shared her faith with me, taught me how to cook, clean a home, do laundry and to be gracious.

Recalling my mom’s prayerful battle with breast cancer from years before and given all the changes to her life and health, it has been a humbling journey to witness her courage, bravery and gentle collaboration. I could not thank or praise her enough. On August 27th, 2026, she left this mortal life to be in the full presence of her Savior, Christ Jesus.

She was preceded in passing by her husband John, grandson Matthew, and brothers Bobby and Mikey Huff. She is survived here by her son Ron and his wife Ann, her granddaughter Jessica and her sister Charlsie and the nieces and nephews of her brothers and sister.
