Patricia "Patty" Bond-Rypkema

‘For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength’. Phillipians 4:13 [NLT]

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patricia “Patty” (Pool) Bond-Rypkema, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Patty was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Christ, our Eternal Savior, on Thursday July 31, 2025, after a life well-lived in service of His Precious Name. Her loved ones have faith that the sadness felt at this time is only temporary and will soon be replaced with full knowledge of her salvation in Christ.

Patty was born on April 8, 1942, in Miami, OK to Horace Greeley Pool, Jr and Belma Gladys (Thulin) Pool-Doty. She was the fourth of five children born into the family – Donnie, H.G, Janice, Patty & Nancy. Challenges were met early in life with the passing of the young family’s patriarch in 1950. However, their deep faith and loving devotion to one another allowed them to overcome those challenging times. That deep familial relationship was an essential part of Patty’s and her sibling’s lives and character.

Patty attended Miami High School and was married to Lon Bond Jr in 1959. Shortly after, she became a loving mother and lifelong friend to her only son, Kevin Bond. Patty later met the love of her life, marrying Larry Rypkema in 1978. Larry’s devotion and love for Patty has been and continues to be the ultimate example of the Christian vows of matrimony.

Patty was a strong proponent of continuing education to better oneself. This was exemplified in her varied work experience. Starting with early production and retail jobs – and progressing to her position as a nationally recognized Direct Marketing professional at the time of her retirement with Alliance Data Systems in 2004. Patty’s Direct Marketing career also included positions with Dun & Bradstreet, Donnelley Marketing & The Mail Box. Patty and Larry traveled extensively after retirement – however, their primary focus remained on God and family. Patty loved serving the Lord throughout her life – particularly the Mayfield Road Baptist church family.

Patty was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Donnie Pool and H.G. Pool Sr. and sister, Janice (Pool) Mabury-Looper, sister-in-law Bobby Berry, nephew H.G. Pool Jr, niece Tina Vaughn and Lon Bond Jr.

Patty is survived by her loving husband Larry Rypkema, son Kevin Bond and wife Cherry, grandson Xander Bond, wife Dakota and great-granddaughter Paisley; granddaughter Rachel Matthee and husband Kobus; sister Nancy Magness-Bassett-Parker and husband Don. Survivors also include brother-in-law Dennis Rypkema and wife Sharon; sister-in-law Ina Pool and a host of dearly loved nephews and nieces, extended family, in-laws and friends. Know that Patty is with you all, loves you each dearly and awaits your arrival in our Eternal home.
