Orville Patrick McCoy

Orville Patrick “Pat” McCoy passed away in Arlington, Texas on August 16, 2026. Pat was born August 1, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, to Orville Eugene McCoy and Ida Elizabeth Calvert. Pat lived a life defined by service to his country, devotion to his family, and a lifelong love of aviation.

Pat shared 67 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Josephine McCoy. Together, they built a life and family that grew to include three children, seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pat proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1979. He built his career in naval aviation as an air traffic controller, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. During his Navy career, he served aboard an aircraft carrier and later at Naval Air Station Dallas. His distinguished service was recognized with four awards of the Navy Good Conduct Medal, in 1963, 1968, 1973, and 1977; the National Defense Service Medal in 1968; and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal in 1975.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Pat continued his working life in the Dallas area. His career included positions with LTV Aerospace and the United States Postal Service, and he ultimately worked at NAVPRO Dallas as a Quality Assurance Specialist supporting the Navy’s aerospace and defense programs. He also continued his education at Tarrant County Junior College.

Aviation remained an important part of Pat’s life long after his Naval service. A licensed pilot and member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, he enjoyed taking to the skies whenever he had the opportunity. Apart from aviation, Pat enjoyed golfing and playing the accordion.

Pat was also a Third-Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Council 14549. He joined the Knights in 2008 and had the special opportunity to serve alongside his son, Tony, a connection that made his years with the organization especially meaningful.

Pat is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Josephine McCoy; his son, Patrick Joseph McCoy and his wife, Liisa; his daughter, Diana Marie McCoy-Adams; the family of his late son, Anthony “Tony” Joseph McCoy, including Tony’s wife, Dana McKelvain; his former wife and mother of his children, Kathy McCoy; and his brother, Andrew Stockstill and his wife, Eleanor.

He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Michael McCoy (Lori Goetz); Meghan Caskey (Jerred); Alexandra McCoy (Rodrigo Musuruana); Danielle Anderson (Steve); Asheley Alvidrez; Matthew McCoy; and Melissa Olvitt (Josh); 13 great-grandchildren, and their beloved Scottish Terrier, Chinia.

Pat was preceded in death by his beloved son, Anthony “Tony” Joseph McCoy, and his parents, Orville Eugene McCoy and Ida Elizabeth Calvert.

The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.
