Obituary

Opal Faye Littlepage Bricker was born on September 15th, 1928, in Licking, MO. She is survived by her two daughters Loretta (David) Derby and Peggy (Jim) Loonan and her three grandchildren Joshua Derby Evans (Husband Greg), Malinda Loonan Sanchez (Husband Mike), and Molly Loonan. She is also survived by two precious great grandchildren, Ashton and Leia.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 58 years Joe Linn Bricker, her parents Marvin and Mabel Littlepage, her daughter Debbie Lincoln and four siblings: Richard Littlepage, Billy Littlepage, Lena Hagler, and Blanche Crews.

Opal Faye fought off double pneumonia at a young age to grow up and support her family with devotion her entire life. She worked at Montgomery Wards with her entire salary going to her parents. Her husband proposed over dinner and never left her side except for the call of the Korean War. She waited for Joe's return and welcomed him back from unexpected AWOLs until he was home for good.

Opal was baptized at the Vivion Road Church of Christ in Kansas City, MO in 1968.

Together, they moved to Chicago, Illinois, Kansas City, Missouri, Golden, Colorado, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Benton City, Walla Walla, and finally Vancouver, Washington. All the while, she was the homemaker raising three children and caring for her family of five. She and Joe loved to assemble puzzles in their later years, between doting on their daughters and grandchildren.

Traveling in their motorhome, they were able to see more of the country than they had ever dreamed. To celebrate their milestone 50th wedding anniversary, they cruised with their entire family to the Caribbean. This trip later inspired their last major vacation together to fulfill a dream of Joe's to experience the Panama Canal. Never did two people overcome and thrive through a tumultuous world and life with love and devotion as Joe and Opal.

Upon Joe's death, Opal Faye moved to Texas to be close to her daughter, Loretta. She blossomed into a social butterfly caring for fellow residents.

Always one to offer support and love, she became the friend and extended family member to every other resident of her building. By only being her loving, caring, and warm self, she made an impact on other people's lives until the day she passed.

Opal would want to be remembered as a wife, mother, and grandmother, but she deserves to be remembered as a rock to all of her family. She was the ultimate provider for her own parents, for her partner in life, her beloved children, and their children. Opal Faye achieved the embodiment of the consummate woman, wife, mother, and grandmother she aspired to be.

Opal’s final resting place is Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas where she rests with her late husband Joe Linn Bricker.
