The family of Nancy Carol (Baker) Speck is deeply saddened to announce her peaceful passing at the age of 82 on August 8, 2024 in Texas.
Nancy was born on March 22, 1942, in Nevada, Iowa to Alva and Annola Baker. She lived a life dedicated to her faith, family, and compassion for others. After graduating from West High School in Waterloo, Iowa in 1960, Nancy embarked on a journey of service and love.
Nancy found joy in her roles as a nurse assistant and later as a dedicated homemaker following her marriage to her beloved late husband, William G. Speck. Her commitment to helping those in need extended beyond her professional life, as she generously volunteered at Paz De Cristo in Mesa, Arizona, and was an active member of Praise and Worship Center in Chandler, AZ, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arlington, TX.
Nancy’s passions included sewing, baking (especially her delicious cookies), and spending time outdoors caring for her plants and flowers. An unwavering prayer warrior, Nancy found solace in her faith and cherished her time with family and friends. Her kind heart and comforting presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As Nancy would often say, “You are a favorite child of God.”
Preceded in death by her husband William G. Speck and her sister Martha Jean Butterfield, Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her loving daughters Carol Schmidt, Christine Treat, Elisa Ailara (husband Mark), and Karen Clark (husband John); sisters Judy Rock and Kathy Goss; grandchildren Ryon, Zach, Evan, Jason, Carlyn, Alex, Seth, Ashley, Brittany, and 17 great grandchildren. May they all cherish many wonderful memories of Nancy!
A visitation will be held at Wade Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21 from 6:00-8:00pm. Her Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 22 at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish and a Graveside Service will take place thereafter at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas.
May we all remember Nancy Carol Speck’s kindness, resilience, and unwavering faith as we celebrate her life and mourn her passing. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited once again with her beloved husband, William.
