Kay Hickman, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 77. She was born on March 9, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Harry and Mina Hill. Kay pursued her education at Southeast Missouri State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She later continued her studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, following a calling toward teaching and ministry.
On December 10, 1976, Kay married the love of her life, Jimmy Nick Hickman. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service, sharing 34 years of marriage until Jimmy’s passing in 2010.
In 1980, Kay and Jimmy became devoted members of Lake Arlington Baptist Church. Her heart for children and ministry led her to begin working at the church in 1991, where she faithfully served in children’s ministry for 20 years. Kay played a vital role behind the scenes, preparing teaching materials for Sunday school classes and Vacation Bible School year after year, helping shape the spiritual foundation of countless children. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer, remaining a steady and loving presence in the church community for the rest of her life.
Kay was a woman of deep faith, quiet dedication, and a servant’s heart. She found joy in caring for others, especially children, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and unwavering love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Nick Hickman, and her cherished daughter, Karri Ann Barnett.
Kay is lovingly remembered by her stepson, Jamison Hickman and daughter-in-law, Misty Hickman, and her stepdaughter Nichole Czomba and son-in-law, Derek Czomba; her son-in-law, Trevor Barnett; her grandchildren, Connor, Mykah, Pierce, Saige, Zane, and Kira; and her brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Rita Hill, as well as beloved nieces and nephews and a host of treasured spiritual family at Lake Arlington Baptist Church.
