Mildred Mae Rogers Thorne went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Mildred was born on January 28,1920, in Perryton, Texas to William A. Rogers and Grace (Keim) Rogers. Mildred attended a country school in Ochiltree County Texas. Reaching adulthood, she worked as a nurse.
Mildred married Albert N. Thorne on December 24, 1942. She resided in Perryton while Albert shipped off to war in Europe. After the war, they set up their home on the family ranch near Canadian, Texas. After Albert’s death, Mildred moved to Adair, Oklahoma in 1990; then to Arlington, Texas in 2022.
Mildred had the gifts of service and caregiving. She touched many lives with her quiet strength as she served her family and community in her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and volunteer.
Mildred’s family and friends rejoice and take comfort in knowing that she trusted in the saving grace of Jesus and is, therefore, with Him.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents William Rogers and Grace Rogers Bishop; husband Albert Thorne; sister, Fern Roberson, twin brothers Jay and June Rogers and Tommy Bishop. Mildred is survived by her son Albert W. Thorne and wife Joan of Adair, Oklahoma; daughter Joyce Bevoni and husband Doug of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren Brian Thorne and wife Patricia of Amarillo; Whitney Simms and husband J. Fred of Amarillo; Jeffrey Thorne and wife Diann of Cleburne; Bart Bevoni and wife Joy of Mansfield; Gregg Bevoni and wife Christi of Mansfield; great grandchildren Thomas and Lily Thorne; Ruby and Fred Simms; Logan and Grace Thorne; Carson and Brett Bevoni; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a member of the First Methodist Church, Texas Association of Hospital Auxiliaries, and Bible Study Fellowship.
A celebration of life service will be in Miami, Texas, date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or Bible Study Fellowship.
