Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a life defined by service, strength, and love for his family. He shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Alberta Huntington, building a life rooted in commitment, laughter, and unwavering support.
A proud veteran, Michael served his country honorably in the United States Navy for 20 years, attaining the rank of Dental Technician First Class (DT1/SW) and a Chief Petty Officer. He enlisted in 1973 during the Vietnam War era and also served during the Persian Gulf War. As a Field Service Dental Technician, he carried out highly specialized and demanding work, often requiring perseverance and precision, including the identification of individuals through dental records.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Michael served aboard several notable vessels, including the USS Nimitz, where he was assigned while it was still in the shipyard in Virginia prior to its commissioning, the USS Eisenhower, and the battleship USS Iowa. After retiring from the military, he continued to serve his community as a Texas Rangers Security Officer and an A/C Technician (Lincoln Tech), and demonstrating his dedication, courage, and versatility.
Michael was a faithful member of the Methodist church, where his values of faith, integrity, and compassion were evident in his daily life. He was known as a strong and confident man who always went above and beyond for those, he loved.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, cooking his famous BBQ ribs and chili, grilling outdoors, and sharing meals with family. He loved running, riding motorcycles, target shooting, and reading, especially Western novels. Traveling brought him happiness, particularly his trips to Florida and Virginia. Above all, he cherished his family and took great pride in spoiling his children and grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Alberta Huntington; his children, Antonio Huntington, Renee Huntington, Michael Huntington (Wife Joni), and Derrick Huntington; his siblings, Joyce Simmons, Beverly Hodge(Vaughn), Pandra Grubbs, and his brother, Baron Huntington; his grandchildren, Xzavier Martin (Loni), Aaliyah Huntington, Mya Huntington, Daina Huntington, Sienna Huntington, Josiah Huntington, Zane Huntington, and Derrick Huntington Jr.; and his great-grandchildren, Zephania Martin and Nia Martin.
