Obituary

Michael Wayne Hill, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on January 21, 1953, in Midland, Texas, to Curley and Marlene Hill.

Mike worked hard throughout his life and touched the lives of all who knew him with his warm humor and generous spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas.

Mike was married to the love of his life, Lora Hill, and together they built a beautiful life centered on family. In their younger years, they dedicated countless evenings and weekends to their boys’ activities—days spent on soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and basketball courts, along with many road trips for baseball tournaments. Those years were among Mike’s favorites, and he cherished every moment.

Family was always the heart of Mike’s world. He treasured time with his grandchildren—taking them on shopping trips, going out to dinner and breakfast (especially at Chili’s), chasing butterflies in the backyard, planting flowers with his granddaughters, and even playing in the mud. He loved working outdoors, pulling weeds, watering the grass by hand, and watching the sunset through the trees. He also enjoyed birdwatching, laughing at the squirrels racing around, feeding them, and forever trying to outsmart them when they got into the food box.

Mike began his career with Container Corporation of America, later taking college courses to become a master electrician. He went on to work for the City of Fort Worth Water Department, where he served as an Instrumentation Electrical Supervisor. He was deeply admired by his colleagues for both his experience and his work ethic. Mike retired in June 2021.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lora Hill; sons Tyler Hill, and Michael Hill and wife Madison; stepson Jonathan Mize and wife Julissa; sister-in-law Delora Chapman Stokely and husband Charles Stokely; and sister-in-law Candace Thomas. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren—Sloane, Scarlett, Sophia, Max, and Jillian; niece Stephanie Samson and husband John; nephews Jordan, Landon, and Gavin; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Marlene; brother Steve Hill; sister Debbie Burt; brother-in-law Jim Thomas; sister-in-law Carolyn Smith; and nephew Chad Chapman.

Michael Hill will be deeply missed by his family and by all who were blessed to know him. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Mike's honor.
