Michael Douglas Jarrett

November 6, 1949 — December 2, 2021

Michael Douglas Jarrett, 72, of Arlington, Texas went home to Heaven on December 2, 2021.

He was born in Bartlesville, Okla. on Nov. 6, 1949 to Mary and Donald Jarrett. He received his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1972, where he met and later married the love of his life, Teresa Lynch, on April 27, 1973. He was a proud Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) brother and lived by their unofficial motto, “Not for college days alone.” He earned his MBA from SMU before going on to work in banking for more than 50 years, including more than 10 years as President of Worthington National Bank in Arlington.

Mike truly had a servant’s heart, and earned his nickname, “The Senator,” by devoting his time and boundless energy to numerous community organizations, including: Arlington ISD Education Foundation, Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Arlington Management Corporation, Friends of the Levitt Pavilion, Arlington Advisory Council for the Salvation Army and Arlington Downtown Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jones, his father, Donald Jarrett, and his treasured father-in-law, Joe Lynch.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Teresa; his daughters Lesley Hagan and Melanie Jarrett; his son-in-law, Russell Hagan; his two perfect grandchildren, Jarrett and Hayley Hagan; his sisters, Carolyn Mervyn and Barbara Williams and their families; his beloved dachshund puppies, Lily and Minnie; and hundreds, if not thousands, of friends, FIJI brothers, coworkers and extended family who cherished his generous heart, quick wit, and kindness to all.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, followed by a memorial mass at St. Maria Goretti’s Catholic Church on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m.

The last text he sent to his daughter Melanie said, “I just value every minute I get to spend with you, and wish there were more.” Dad, we look forward to spending eternity with you one day in Heaven.

The family asks that you please consider a donation to the Arlington ISD Education Foundation at arlingtonef.org in lieu of flowers.
