Melvin Ralph Schneider

Melvin R. Schneider, 91, of Dalworthington Gardens, Texas, met his Lord and Savior face to face on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The son of George Schneider and Dorothy Huseman Schneider, Melvin was a carpenter by trade, who loved the Lord, his family and his church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jo Ann Markham Schneider, in 2013. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was a charter member of the New Testament Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas where he served as head deacon. Melvin attended church faithfully until his last hospitalization led to his Heavenly Homegoing. Previously, Melvin was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he spent decades teaching a fourth-grade boys Sunday School class. Scores of those boys continue to be faithful church members and many are in full-time Christian service to this day.

Melvin is survived by his daughters: Michelle Cothrin of Arlington, Lisa Benjamin and husband Kim of Arlington and Lori Schneider of Dalworthington Gardens; five grandchildren: Kevin Cothrin and wife Jennifer of Ft. Worth, Bradley Benjamin and wife Lindsey of Aledo, Melissa Watts and husband John, of Watauga, Andrew Benjamin and wife Emma of Arlington, and Branden Schneider of Arlington: and great-grandchildren Isaiah Cothrin, Elisabeth Cothrin, Madelyn Benjamin, Mackenzie Benjamin, Amon Watts, Jonah Benjamin and Chloe Benjamin; brothers Bob Schneider of Roswell, NM, Fran Schneider of Hope, NM; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife JoAnn; his brothers Ivan Schneider, Leonard Schneider, Bernard Schneider and sister Beth Fullingim.

The family will receive friends at 10am on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at New Testament Baptist Church, 2109 S. Center St., Arlington, Texas 76010. A funeral service will be held at 11am at the church. Melvin will be laid to rest at Moore Memorial Gardens following the funeral service.
