Maynard Nickson Pike

Maynard Nickson Pike, beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on June 22, 1943, in Artesia, California, to Lonnie Burton Pike and Lessie Vee Bruce. Maynard's life was defined by his unwavering commitment to education, family, and the outdoors.

With a Bachelor of Science in History and Theatre from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master’s Degree from Sul Ross University, Maynard dedicated his career to nurturing the minds of young people. His work as a principal at a nationally recognized middle school earned him a reputation as a quiet facilitator of change, impacting countless lives along the way. He was a proud member of the National Middle School Board of Directors, served as president of Phi Delta Kappa in 1991, and was actively involved in the Texas Association of Secondary Principals, where his leadership and innovative spirit shone brightly.

Maynard was also a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, K. Earlene Anderau Pike; daughter, Nikki Pike Thompson, and her husband Billy L. Thompson; and grandaughter, Ace (Lilly) Thompson. He is also survived by his siblings, Doug Pike and Gail Pike Phillips, along with numerous relatives and close friends who will cherish his memory.

An avid fisherman, Maynard found joy standing on the lakeshore or in a boat, where he could relish nature’s tranquility. His love for gardening resulted in lush vegetable and melon gardens that he proudly cultivated over the years. Those who knew him appreciated his kindness, generosity, and passion for both politics and family.

Memorial services will be held on November 1, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 1330 S Fielder Rd., Arlington, TX. Family, friends, and the community are invited to celebrate Maynard's life and the profound impact he had on those around him.
