Mary Elois Shepard

Mary Elois (Lois) Shepard, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on June 7th, 1929, in Wisner, Louisiana, Lois graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1946. She married her beloved husband, William (Bill), on April 15th, 1949, and together they built a life filled with love and dedication that spanned more than 76 years.

For more than 50 years, they called Arlington, Texas home, after spending 13 years in Michigan.

An avid Texas Rangers fan, Lois, always with Bill by her side, relished the simplicity and joy of the game, sharing countless memories with family and fellow fans. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys and pro football in general, often scheduling appointments and family visits around her favorite games. “Can we do Saturday instead of Sunday?” was a common request.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William, her loving parents, James Stampley and Jimmie and Gladys Brooks, sister Minnie Ruth, niece Cheryl, and beloved cousin Don.

She is survived by her children William Shepard Jr., Sam Shepard, Sydney Jeff Shepard and Amelia Simpson, her cherished grandchildren Brian, Michael, Katie, Emily, Daniel and Joshua, numerous great grandchildren, beloved cousin Jimmie, and a vast network of family and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

As we remember our Mama and Grams, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Bill (Grandad) and they are beginning their heavenly journey back together. Her legacy will live on through the love of her family and the countless lives she inspired throughout her remarkable journey. To quote her youngest grandson the day after her passing, “I wonder what Grams and Grandad are doing today?” All is as it should be.
