Mary Margaret “Margie” Reeder

Mary Margaret “Margie” Reeder, 76, passed away on July 11, 2026, in Arlington, Texas.

Margie was born on April 20, 1950 in Knox City, Texas to Andrellita and Margarito Lopez. As the oldest of five children and the family’s only daughter, she naturally grew into the strong and steadfast woman so many came to know and depend on. Her family lived in Munday, Texas before settling in Abilene, where she was raised from the age of four. There, she grew up in a home rooted in love, with many of her closest relatives living just steps away in neighboring houses. Family and faith were the cornerstones of her upbringing as she and her family were active members of the Assemblies of God church, where she developed the values that would guide her throughout her life.

After graduating from Abilene High School in 1968, she continued her education at Abilene Business School. The years that followed brought both profound loss and new beginnings. In 1977, she experienced the loss of her infant son, David Gabriel, whose memory she carried close to her heart throughout her life. Four years later, she welcomed her son, Jacob Lorenzo.

In 1985, Margie began a successful career with APL/APLL, where she dedicated nearly 29 years before retiring in 2014 as Senior Manager of Customer Service. Along the way, she formed lasting friendships with many of her coworkers and enjoyed traveling for work, with frequent trips to Chicago, Arizona, and California. Her career later brought her to Chicago, where she lived for five years before returning to Texas to be closer to her grandchildren.

After retiring, Margie embraced the things that brought her the greatest joy. She treasured every opportunity to be with her grandchildren, who were the lights of her life. She rarely missed a chance to be involved at her granddaughter Grace’s school, where she proudly volunteered with the PTA and helped the campus staff in any way she could. She enjoyed occasional trips to Winstar, shopping, reading and dining out with family and friends. Her faith remained an important part of her life reflected in her devotion as a member of Grace Community Church.

Throughout her life, she was known for her independent spirit, her quick wit and unmistakable sass. She loved deeply, gave generously and was fiercely loyal to those she loved. Caring for others wasn’t something she felt obligated to do, it was simply who she was. Margie believed that love was something you showed, not just said. And she showed it through every meal she cooked, every conversation she shared and every quietly made sacrifice for the people she loved. Those gifts will remain long after her passing and will continue to shape the lives of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Margie is survived by her son, Jacob Lopez; her grandchildren, Gabriella Lopez, Jacob Lopez, Jr., and Grace Lopez; her niece whom she embraced as a daughter, Maggie Martinez; her brothers, Antonio Lopez (Irene), Ruben Lopez, David Lopez and Andres Lopez (Irma); as well as many cherished family and friends who became family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Gabriel Lopez, and her parents, Andrellita and Margarito Lopez.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Margie’s life on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas 76013. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Following the service, guests are invited to gather in the reception hall to spend time with family and friends and share memories of Margie.
