Mark Fishback

Richard Mark Fishback, known lovingly as Mark, passed away peacefully at the age of 69, surrounded by family and friends who cherished him dearly. Born in Lubbock and raised in the Arlington area, Mark later made his home in Granbury, where he built a life filled with generosity, music, and friendships with those around him.

Mark devoted 39 years of his life to Goodwill, where his strong work ethic and willingness to help others left a lasting impact. Whether supporting his coworkers, assisting customers, or simply offering a kind word, Mark approached every day with a giving spirit. Mark earned many awards throughout his employment, including recently, the Will A. Courtney Outstanding Service Award that he was very proud of. He also started a program to employ individuals with severe disabilities and managed the Federal Set Aside Program. But most of all, he was an advocate for all those less fortunate.

In his free time, Mark found joy in the things he loved most: playing golf, watching golf, and picking up his bass guitar, which brought him a sense of rhythm and peace. His passions were simple but deeply meaningful, and he shared them gladly with the people in his life. Memories will be cherished watching Mark play passionately on stage. Mark loved the Lord and met regularly with his bible study group.

Above all, Mark was known for his generosity, always ready to lend a hand, offer support, or brighten someone’s day with his steady presence.

Mark is survived by his daughters, Katrina Barnhill (spouse Greg Barnhill) and Sara Anderson (spouse Corey Anderson); his grandchildren, Kaylynn Barnhill, Jackson Barnhill, and Zoe Anderson; his sister, Rhonda Craig; his mother, Dorothy White, and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jeff Fishback, Terry Fishback, and his father, Darryl Fishback.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Mark’s life will be held on January 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., at the Pecan Plantation Clubhouse in Granbury. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share memories of a man who gave so much of himself to others.

Mark’s family will remember him for his kindness, his quiet strength, and the love he carried for those around him. His absence will be felt deeply, but his memory will be treasured always.
