With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Lowell Everett Ivey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He left this world on March 20, 2026, at the age of 93. Lowell was surrounded by love with his devoted wife of 52 years, Wanda, by his side.
Lowell was born on July 18, 1932, in Blount County, Alabama to Paul and Opal Ivey. His early years were spent on the family farm, where he cultivated a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
In 1951, Lowell answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict. His service took him across the Atlantic to England where he served as a gunner and truck driver, achieving the rank of Corporal. Upon returning home, Lowell began his career in the dry cleaning industry, managing One Hour Martinizing plants in Alabama and Georgia. Lowell pursued further education, earning his GED and attending Tennessee Vocational Tech, where he obtained certificates in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and Commercial Mechanics.
Lowell's professional life was as diverse as it was fulfilling. It was during his time in Griffin, GA, that he met and married Wanda Williams, the new Nabisco Salesperson. The two united in marriage on May 31, 1974, in Griffin, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
The couple's journey took them to various places due to Wanda's career, and Lowell embraced the role of "Mr. Mom," dedicating himself to raising their daughter, Jana, with love and care.
A man of faith and community, Lowell was a member of Tate Springs Baptist Church and served with dedication at Mission Arlington from 2007 to 2011. His love for others was evident in the way he shared his time and talents, always eager to lend a helping hand or share a story to bring a smile and laughter.
Lowell's passions were as vibrant as his spirit. He delighted in gardening, playing the harmonica, and weaving tales that would leave his audience in fits of laughter. In his later years he spent many hours with his adult coloring books. But perhaps his greatest joy came from the time spent with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life and never failed to bring a twinkle to his eye.
Lowell is predeceased by his siblings, Paul Eugene Ivey, Dorman Ivey, Larry Ivey, and Jewell Dean NeSmith. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda; his children, Gary James Ivey, Neal Everett Ivey, Steven Leon Ivey, and Jana Gaile Spillers; eight treasured grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren who will continue to carry his legacy forward.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. A celebration of Lowell's life will be held on March 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Tate Springs Baptist Church, located at 4001 Little Road, Arlington, TX. Lowell will be laid to rest at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, at https://mealsonwheels.org/client-contribution/.
The Ivey family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Buttermilk Villa and its compassionate staff, who lovingly cared for Lowell over the past two years. Your kindness and dedication meant the world to us.
Lowell Everett Ivey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in the countless memories he gifted us and the knowledge that his spirit lives on in every life he touched.
