Leon Carl Conley

December 12, 1937 — July 2, 2024

Leon Carl Conley, 86, affectionately known as “Bud”, was born on December 12, 1937, in Coffeyville, Kansas and passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, in Arlington, Texas.

Leon was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He spent his life in the aircraft industry, working for Bell Helicopter for 37 years and retired as Manager of Quality Assurance in 1999. He was President of the Arlington High School FFA Booster Club, President of the Arlington Men’s Garden Club, and a Life Member of the Texas Wood-carver’s Guild. He was a supportive member of many other community organizations. Leon was an outdoorsman who loved golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He enjoyed playing the steel guitar, wooden spoons, woodcarving and cooking award-winning barbeque.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Celina “Cissy” Conley, and children: daughter Dawn Prejean, husband Allen; son Shawn Conley, wife Patti; son Chris Conley, wife Aimee; and daughter Christy Thomas, husband Trent. Grandchildren: Katelyn Woody and husband Tate, Sarah Marie Prejean, Daniel Prejean, Mason Conley, Carson Conley, Colton Thomas, and Claire Thomas. Brothers Leland Conley and Don Conley. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Leta Conley, his sister Sharon Kay Giefer, and his brother Ronald Conley.

Leon was a strong, dependable, generous, intelligent man who loved his family. He will be remembered for his love of learning, his quick wit, sense of humor, quiet faith, and fondness for country music.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, July 18th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas, 76013. A private graveside service will be held for the family.

Leon will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
