Larry Michael Roberts, 82, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at his home in Hurst, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, Texas 75211.

Larry was born on October 22, 1943, in Frederic to Lavon (Crownhart) and Kenneth Brunsberg. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his lifelong sense of duty and patriotism.

Following his military service, Larry built a long and steady career as a truck driver, a profession he dedicated himself to for many years before retiring in 2019. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly nature, he formed lasting friendships throughout his career.

Larry had a generous heart and a gift for bringing smiles to others. He volunteered with Shriners International, delighting children and families as “Doodles” the clown, performing in hospitals and spreading laughter wherever he went. His compassion and commitment to service left a lasting impression on many lives.

In his free time, Larry enjoyed woodworking, reading, and keeping up with current events. Whether crafting something with his hands, diving into a good book, or engaging in thoughtful conversation about the world around him, he remained curious and active throughout his life.

He is survived by his children, Eric (Cindy) Roberts and Jason (Roxanne) Roberts; his stepchildren, Cindy (Allen) Dority and Gina (Matt) McCreary; his grandchildren, Justin Roberts, Trevor Roberts and his fiancée, Cheyenne Young; six great-grandchildren; and 8 step grandchildren. He is also survived by the mother of his children and very close friend, Janis Ethridge, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Frances Roberts; his stepdaughter, Patricia Deann Uptmor; and his parents.

Larry will be remembered for his steady strength, warm humor, generous spirit, and the joy he brought to others, especially as Doodles the clown. His legacy of service, love, and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
