Kathleen Susan Weidner passed away at Whitesands Residential Care Facility in Arlington, Texas on January 17, 2026 after a long illness. Kathy was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 5,1948 to Rose McWilliams Weidner and Charles Weidner. Kathy grew up with two siblings, Nancy and Chuck Weidner.
Preceding Kathy in death were her parents Rose and Charles Weidner, her brother Chuck Weidner and a niece Melanie Wasmund McKenzie and a nephew Levi Weidner.
Kathy is survived by her sister Nancy Wasmund and her husband Dennis who live in Kansas along with her nephew Chris Wasmund. Niece Tracey Zimmerman and nephew Jeremy Weidner also survive Kathy along with great- nieces and great-nephews.
After a debilitating car wreck in 2019, Kathy's health continued to decline. There were so many wonderful nurses, doctors, and staff through Baylor Hospital in Grapevine and Dallas who gave her exceptional service. Kathy particularly wanted to recognize Dr. Joyce Stroud whom she loved and respected. Kathy will be missed especially by best friends Aisha Khaaliq and June Rivas. Each one gave her all to help Kathy have a quality of life as she traveled her final journey.
Kathy worked in Dallas for several law firms including Bickle & Brewer Law Firm now known as Brewer Attorneys andCounselors. She worked there approximately 20 years. She was the Lead Word Processor and Trainer with the Firm.
Kathy had an inquiring mind and loved reading and discussing all issues. She loved gardening and growing flowers, but her passion was rescuing cats. Many cats she rescued, fostered, and found them homes, but a few ended up with her permanently. She also loved The Dallas Cowboys and wouldn't miss a game. She followed the players and their accomplishments and rooted for them.
A ceremony for Kathy will be held during Easter, a time of rebirth and resurrection. Kathy's ashes will be scattered at Old Union Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas in a private cemetery that June's great-great grandfather established for the community and his descendants in the 1800s. Kathy will rest there with her "adopted" family. We know she rests in peace.
