Juanita Elizabeth Billiot Pewitt, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord, entered into eternal rest on April 8, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas, at the age of 92.
She was born on October 26, 1933, in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she began a life rooted in faith, family, and compassion for others. Juanita carried her love for God and her joyful spirit with her throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Juanita was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Tommie W. Pewitt, with whom she shared many years of love and partnership until his passing on July 18, 2022. Together, they built a strong and faithful family grounded in Christian values.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Kim and Obet Buddy Jones; Jan and Ken Scheller; and Alan Pewitt. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Jason Jones, Brian Jones, Amy Hyde, and Scott Harmeyer, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of happiness and love in her life.
Juanita is also survived by her dear siblings: Mamie Mang, Lewis Buddy Billiot, Gloria Robicheaux, and Eola Fontana, along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed by her kindness and warmth.
She received her education at Holy Angels High School and later became a talented self-employed silk florist. Through her artistry, she brought beauty into countless homes and lives. Juanita had a deep love for creativity, especially sewing, crafts, cooking, and artistic expression, and she found great joy in sharing those gifts with others.
A woman of strong faith, Juanita was an active member of her church communities throughout her life, including Memorial Baptist Church in Metairie, Louisiana; First Baptist Church in Kenner, Louisiana; and Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. She also faithfully served as a Girl Scout leader and was actively involved in the PTA, always dedicating her time to nurturing and guiding others.
Juanita enjoyed sports and was recognized with various sports club awards, reflecting her enthusiasm for life and community involvement. Above all, she will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering faith, and the grace with which she lived her life.
Though she is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her life was a testament to God’s love, and her memory will forever remain a blessing to those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas.
