Jon Christian Donahue, 47, beloved son of Bernie and Diane Donahue passed away August 8, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jon was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Arlington, Texas. He attended Ditto, Young and Martin High Schools. He graduated from TCU where he played football for the Frogs. Jon cherished those years at TCU and kept up with his many Frog football friends. After graduation, Jon worked for Kohler and Moen in the plumbing industry.
Jon loved living in Fort Worth! He frequently rode his bike all over the city but usually ended down at the Trinity River. Many restaurants saw Jon as a regular. He loved to eat, was a great cook and enjoyed grilling out with his father.
Jon led an exciting life. “Every Day is a Blessing” he would say. His adventures were far and wide. From Cabo San Lucas fishing with his brother Jed, to driving the family in a houseboat in Lake Powell, Utah, to Texas lakes and rivers, Jon fished them all. Possum Kingdom and Benbrook were his favorites. When time was limited you could find Jon at Lake Como with the local anglers. He was an extra in many movies filmed in Texas. His 6’6” height gave him an advantage in many parts. He was an unpublished writer and had endless stories to tell. He enjoyed drawing and artwork, especially of fish! Big Jon was a fantastic friend to all who knew him. His countless friends will miss his conversations, his humor, his ability to see the good in everyone and his love of the TCU Horned Frogs.
Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents Edward and Margaret Dwyer and James “Don” and Mary Donahue, and his numerous aunts and uncles in Maryland.
He is survived by his parents, older brother Jed (Erica), sister Christine (Danny Le), sister Kathleen (fiancée Vicente Rodriguez), his son Hunter Donahue, nephews Jake and Shane Donahue and nieces Addison, Olivia and Emma Le and MegAnn Rodriguez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Arlington, August 30 at 10am. Internment will be at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale, TX. A reception at St. Vincent’s will follow.
