John Porter

John Porter, 82 of Arlington, Texas, passed away on December 29, 2024, only 59 days after his wife of 62 years, Patty, left this world.

John was born the oldest of three children in Shreveport, LA on October 28, 1942. Growing up, John was quite the athlete. He was a basketball, baseball and track star in high school and voted Mr. Ruston High School his senior year. His high school friends became lifelong friends.

John attended Baylor University in 1960 where he played baseball for the Baylor Bears. He graduated in 1964. It was during his freshman year that he went on a double date and met his wife, Patty. They married on January 24, 1964.

Patty and John went on to have two daughters, Pam and Katie. Over the years, John was an entrepreneur pursuing many different career paths.

John and Patty were long-term members of Fielder Church in Arlington and their beloved Sunday School class. These friends have stood by them steadfastly during the past year.

John was a very private person, a man of few words. However, when he spoke, he was speaking words of wisdom that commanded a room.

John is survived by his daughters, Pam Carmona of Arlington, TX and Katie Feldhaus (Will) of Lexington, KY; sister, Brenda Harman (Richard) of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren Daniel, Claire and Lillie. 

To honor John’s life, a memorial visitation will be held on January 4, 2025, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, TX, family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Advocates for Special People in John’s name.
