John "David" George

John David George, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2026. He was born on June 18, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas to Everett Levoy George Jr. and Lorene Dean George. David attended UTA for his Undergraduate, Southwestern Theological Seminary for his Masters of Theology and GoldenGate Seminary for his Doctorate of Ministry. While studying in these institutions he served at Meadowlane Baptist Church, Arlington; First Baptist Church, Krum, Texas; and Tarrant Road Baptist Church in Fort Worth which became Lake Arlington Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. At each of these churches, David was privileged to serve alongside some of God’s saints who supported his vision to reach as many people with the Gospel of Jesus as was possible. God richly blessed his ministry alongside these people, and he saw great growth in both the number of people in the church, but also, in their spiritual lives.

David retired in 2015 when dementia affected his ability to preach and pastor effectively. David enjoyed life. He loved people and made it a point to get to know them. If he met you once, he remembered your name, and if you met him again 10 years later, he knew exactly who you were and how he met you. He loved a good joke and would repeat the same silly jokes over and over again and laugh each time as if it were the first time he said it. He always put others before himself. His life’s mission was to make sure you found the same love that he found in Jesus. He was an avid sports fan. He played golf as often as he could. He toured the world playing every important golf course that was available to him. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks; and he liked to spend Sunday afternoons, watching golf tournaments with his eyes closed. He had a great love for sharing the gospel with kids and made children’s camp and youth camps at Riverbend and Falls Creek some of the most memorable and cherished moments of our lives. He was a strong Bible teacher. He took the word and made it real and applicable for everyone. He loved to travel and did so with his family and also as a missionary. He spread the word of the Lord all across the globe. He had a beautiful signing voice and loved music. He worked hard at everything he did. He was a good father. He was a great grandfather. He was always there to support and cheer on his kids and grandkids. He was a devoted husband and best friend to Brenda for 60 years. He lived a full, wonderful and purposeful life. He left it all on the field. We are sure he was met in heaven with “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Kight George of Weatherford, Texas; his children: Tessa Stovall and her husband Paul Stovall of Colleyville, Texas; Aaron George and his wife Lindsey Salinas George of Richmond, Texas; Clay McCook of Weatherford, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Landry McCook, Sophie McCook, Evan Salinas, Penelope George, Anna Pankovich and Sara Pankovich. As well as his sister-in-laws: Debra Gunstanson and Jere, Elaine George, Connie George and 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
