Joan Herndon Tucker

Joan (Herndon) Tucker, 87, of Cranston, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late J.D. Tucker, Jr.

Born January 14, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late John Troy and Tommie Jo (Gauntt) Herndon.

In her freetime, Joan enjoyed spending time on Facebook, shopping on HSN and QVC, and, most of all, looking at pictures of and spending time with her family.

She was the loving mother of Jay Scott Tucker (Maria) of Chandler, AZ and Monica Leigh Mays (Brian) of Cranston, RI. She also leaves grandchildren Jessica Downs (Lauren), Jay Alexander Tucker (Rachael), Payton Mays and Wyatt Mays; great grandchildren, Jeremy, William, Amellia, and soon-to-be born, Samuel. She was the beloved sister of Troy Herndon (Celia) and the late Rebecca Ann Herndon Cobo. Joan is also survived by other cherished nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be 10:30am-12:30pm at Wade Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2026. Immediately following service, the Graveside will be at 1:00 pm at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are greatly appreciated to The Tomorrow Fund at Hasbro Children's Hospital, Rhode Island.
