Jo Evelyn “Duckie” Dodson,87, passed gently on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Midlothian, Texas. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 22, at Mayfield Road Baptist Church, 1701 E Mayfield Rd, Arlington with Pastor Bobby Bridges officiating. Service will be livestreamed on Facebook at Mayfield Road Baptist Church page. Private Family Graveside Service: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Jo was born on May 6, 1933 in Childress, Texas to Austin Carl Beal and Katie Loree Herring Beal. She received her nursing license in 1955 and worked at Childress Memorial Hospital before moving to Arlington, Texas and becoming head nurse at Arlington Clinic for 35 years. She was known to many of the young nurses as Mama Jo, Auntie Jo, Nurse Jo, whom she mentored throughout their career. She loved her Mayfield Road Baptist Church family and all the ladies in her Sunday school class. Jo was the past President of the Arlington Business Women's Association. She loved to watch the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and the Dallas Cowboys. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her parents, Katie Loree Herring and Austin Carl Beal and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors: She was survived by her only son, Alvy Dodson and wife, Nan; grandson, Clint Dodson and wife, Yvonne; granddaughter, Kelli McDaniel and husband, Robert; great-grandchildren, Morgan Gil and husband, Sean, Macy Scott and husband, Michael, Taylor Carter and husband, Wes, Hailey Richardson, Noah Richardson, Garrett Easton and fiance, Lauren, Grant Easton and wife, Savana, Erica Grossklaus and husband, Austin, Preston Dodson and Rylee McDaniel; great-great-grandchildren, River Makenzie Carter and Kayson Wayne Scott; her beloved lifelong friends, the Stone family, Billie June Stone, Tracey Thomas and Susan Harrison, the Otto's, Mark Otto and wife, Karen and Stephen Otto; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
