Jerry Lane Leirmo, 76, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jerry was born April 1, 1949, in Mondovi, WI, to Ralph Sr. and Elaine (Lahner) Leirmo, and was raised on the family farm in Elk Mound, WI. He attended Oak Knoll and Sunny Valley grade Schools. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1972, specializing in missile guidance at K.I. Sawyer AFB in Marquette, MI. On June 20, 1970, he married Suzanne Marie Hurt, beginning a loving partnership that spanned 55 years.

He earned his B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Stout in May 1975. His career included Manufacturing Engineer at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Engineering Manager at Spray Booth Systems in Fort Worth, and Sales with Marlow Industries of Dallas, retiring in 2017. Jerry and Sue joined St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in 1987, in recent years he became an usher and a member of the Men’s Club.

Jerry was known for his passion for sports, coaching his daughters’ softball and basketball teams, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Texas Rangers. He was an aggressive shortstop softball player well into his 60s. He enjoyed playing cards with his 500 card club friends for over 50 years. Jerry, being an April fools’ baby, had a playful sense of humor, where he was known for playing practical jokes. He also had a fond love for music and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In his retirement, he built a woodworking shop with his brother Dennis and close friends. Always willing to lend a hand, he was admired for his mechanical skills and generous spirit toward neighbors and friends.

Our family would like to thank Jerry’s nurses, Carrie Collins, Monica Jones and Ralph Leirmo Jr., for the excellent care they gave him.
