MSgt. James William “Jim” McNichols, USMC (Ret.), a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a proud United States Marine passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025.

A visitation will be held at 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel. Jim will be laid to rest at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.

Born on September 21, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, James was the beloved son of Charles James McNichols and Emma May Wallace. From an early age, he showed a strong sense of duty, service, and love for his family — values that would define his life.

Jim served honorably for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, a period during which he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his country. His service was recognized with several prestigious honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the U.S. Army Presidential Unit Citation. He was, above all else, a proud Marine — a title he carried with deep respect and humility throughout his life.

Beyond his military service, Jim was a man of deep love and loyalty to those closest to him. The love of his life, Ba Thi McNichols, stood by his side for decades, sharing a bond built on devotion, laughter, and resilience. Together, they raised one son, James A. McNichols. Jim’s legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Stephen A. McNichols, Jaclyn E. McNichols, and Madeline R. McNichols, who brought immense pride and joy to his later years.

Jim was also a loyal brother-in-law to Snow Nguyen and Manh “Alex” Tran, and a steadfast friend to many.

In his free time, James found joy in cheering for his favorite teams — the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks.

A man of integrity, grit, and deep compassion, Jim dedicated his life to his family, his country, and the values he held dear. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
