James Daniel Carroll (Jim) of Arlington, Texas, died peacefully at the age of 96 on February 26, 2026. Funeral services will be at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, March, 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Jim will be proudly laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery.
Jim was born on December 28, 1929 to Bonnie Parker Carroll and James Daniel Carroll in Shreveport LA where he lived as a young child. By the time Jim was school age, he was living in Texas where the remainder of his youth was spent.
After graduating from Lutcher Stark Senior High School in Orange, TX in 1947 he moved to Fort Worth, TX. He joined the United States Air Force in 1949. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and worked a few years in the Fort Worth area. Appreciating the structure, consistency and opportunities offered in the military, he reenlisted in the USAF in 1958 and retired from his duties of crew chief as Master Sergeant in 1974. His Air Force career took him to many bases in Texas as well as, Wyoming, California, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
Among other honors, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation and the Airman's Medal.
After retiring from the Air Force, he soon had the opportunity to be a part of the 1976 startup operations of the Miller Brewing Company Container plant (now Ball Metal Container Corporation) in south Fort Worth where he remained until he retired (from then Reynolds Metals Corporation) in 1996.
We would like to thank the staff at College Park Rehabilitation and Care Center, particularly Sheila and Keith, for their compassionate care during Jim's last few weeks. We are also deeply grateful for the skilled and compassionate services of Beyond Faith Hospice for escorting Jim and the family through his final days.
Jim is proceeded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Betty McLendon Carroll, whom he lovingly cared for in her final years; his parents, Bonnie and James; and his sisters, Jimmie Carroll Clark and Betty Carroll Barbee. He is survived by son, Chris and daughter-in-law, Kathy Williams; son, Todd Williams; granddaughters, Stacey and husband, Matt; Kaitlyn and husband, Nathan; Kara and husband, Dakota; and Tara; great granddaughters, Lillee, Monroe, and Brazos; great grandson, Axel; brother, John Carroll; and nieces and nephews, Carol Smith, Jan Smith, Randy Clare Clark, Scooter Carroll, Billy Carroll; as well as many friends and his beloved dog, Buddy.
