Jack Michael Murphy

Jack Michael Murphy, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025. He was born on April 4, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Tennie Lois Luna and Jack Micheal Murphy.

Jack grew up with much extended family support which gained him a strong sense of family, his everlasting Catholic faith, and his generous spirit. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1958, he continued his education for a year at Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He also served in the Texas National Guard.

In 1956, Jack met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Nobis. The two were married in 1961 in San Antonio, beginning a partnership filled with devotion, commitment, and unwavering support. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage until Barbara’s passing in 2024.

In 1977, Jack and Barbara settled in Arlington, Texas raising their three children. Jack and his family were long time active members of his beloved Catholic Church. Jack served as an Acolyte of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for over 10 years, took on the duties as the president of the St. Vincent de Paul Men's Club in 1981 and 1983, served as a Stephens Minister for others in their time of need. Jack's love for supporting the annual church fish fry, parish picnic and other events were always joyfilled times he enjoyed.

Jack built a successful career in the food industry. His hard work and dedication warranted him promotion after promotion in the ranks of his profession and company leader. At the time of his retirement, he was serving as a regional manager for Kraft Foods and dedicated much of his professional life to the company. He retired in 1996, embracing a well-earned season of rest, service, and hobbies he loved.

In retirement, Jack stayed active in his community, church and nurtured his passion for golf. He worked as a marshall at Bear Creek Country Club, volunteered with United Way of Tarrant County, and was a proud member of the Arlington Senior Golf Association. A highlight of his golfing life was the unforgettable opportunity to play at St. Andrews in Scotland—the birthplace of the game he cherished.

Jack will be remembered for his easy smile, steady kindness, and the genuine interest he took in those around him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the family he loved, and the many memories he created over his 86 years.

He is survived by his children, Lu Anne, Michael and his wife Jan, Amber; his sister, Charlotte and 5 grandchildren: Alexis, Murphy and her husband Aaron, Bailey, Ryan, and Kyle.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Barbara.

Family will remember his devotion to his faith, kindness shared, generous heart and constant love for others. A celebration of his life will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with details below.
