Hebert William Logan, beloved father, grandfather, great-great-grandfather, builder, and friend, passed peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 101 years old. Born on November 3, 1924, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Hebert lived a long, full life marked by faith, generosity, hard work, and an unmistakable joy for living.

Hebert was the cherished son of Jelks A. Logan and Elizabeth Ann Zuck, and a devoted husband to the love of his life, Sally Z. Logan, who preceded him in death on January 20, 2019. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, partnership, and devotion—one that remained a guiding light for their family long after Sally’s passing.

Hebert was a proud father to Cheryl E. Hagan (Ron) and Herbert W. Logan Jr. (Xian Cheng). He found immense joy in his family and was a great-great-grandfather to two treasured girls, Logan and Sloan, who brought him deep pride and happiness. He is also survived by grandchildren; Chrisy (Donny), Ron (Karla), Stella and Great grandchildren; Shelby (Jake), Chris, Maya, Ada (Karson), Carson (Kate), along with his two, Great Great Grandchildren; Logan and Sloane and his brother Ron Logan with whom he shared a lifetime of memories. Herbert is preceded in death by his brother Jack Logan and his sister Joyce Fleming.

After graduating from high school, Hebert answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army on December 15, 1942. His service reflected the sense of duty and quiet strength that defined him throughout his life.

A builder and contractor by trade, Hebert helped shape communities—both physically and personally. Over the course of the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, he built thousands of custom homes throughout Erie, Pennsylvania. Known affectionately as “the gentleman builder,” Hebert earned a reputation not just for quality craftsmanship, but for fairness, kindness, and integrity. He believed everyone deserved a place to call home and often went out of his way to help families afford one. In this way, he lived his faith daily, leading by example and giving generously to those in need.

Hebert embraced life with enthusiasm and humor. He had a lifelong love of cars, especially Cadillacs, proudly owning and upgrading them regularly from 1960 to 2015. He enjoyed car shows, museums, and watching races—particularly stock car racing. At work and at home, Hebert was known for his big personality. You often heard him before you saw him, whistling a tune or belting out a song (whether anyone asked or not). He delighted in teasing his son with impromptu serenades and brought laughter wherever he went.

A devoted family man, Hebert captured countless memories on video, recording his children’s lives and celebrating their milestones with pride. As he grew older, one of his greatest pleasures was sharing lunches with his son—often playfully arguing over who would pay the bill.

Above all else, Hebert was a man of faith, generosity, and love. He believed in serving others, trusting in God’s grace, and living with an open heart. His life was a reflection of Proverbs 22:1—“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.”

Hebert William Logan leaves behind a legacy built not only of homes, but of lives touched, laughter shared, and love given freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered, now resting in the eternal peace of God’s loving arms.
