Gordon Gene Rainey Sr. passed away July 19, 2026. He was born in Waxahachie, Texas on November 5, 1936 to Dan and Annie Marie Rainey. However, Arlington had been his home since 1955. He graduated Waxahachie High School, then moved to Arlington to attend Arlington State College where he graduated after the name was changed to University Of Texas at Arlington. Gordon worked for Safeway while he was in college. After graduation he joined Great Southwest Corporation (developer of Six Flags Over Texas) until the main office was moved back to California. He then went to work for Henry S. Miller in Dallas. He loved to play golf, ride horses, and play softball. He coached boy's football and baseball and played and coached a coed softball team for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gordon Gene Rainey Jr.; daughter, Sharon Annette Love; grandson, Michael Gene Sparks; parents, Dan and Annie Rainey; brother, J.D. Rainey; sisters, Francis Atherton and Ann Stinson.
Survived by his ex-wife, Ellawan Rainey; daughter, Dianna Lynn Snow and husband, Bart; grandsons, Chance F. Cooke and wife, Magen, Dylan S. Rainey; granddaughters, Morgan A. McDonald and husband, Randy, Anna LaShey Pratt and husband, Collin; great granddaughter, Chloe Cooke; great grandsons, Motley Pratt and Chance Cooke Jr.; nephew, Danny Stephenson; nieces, Linda Ngiratumrang, Jo Pope, and Pat Kitterman.
